Philippines goalkeeper Neil Etheridge was a highly-rated academy goalkeeper for what felt like an age, but his only appearance for the Fulham first team ended up in better disappointment. Called up as a late replacement for the injured Mark Schwarzer and David Stockdale to play in the must-win Europa League group game against Odense, Etheridge failed to set up his wall correctly to concede from a free kick with the Whites 2-0 before letting in a last minute header as Martin Jol’s side crashed out of the competition. He was released in May 2014 following Fulham’s relegation from the Premier League.
