Greek veteran Giorgos Karagounis joined Fulham on a free transfer from Panathinaikos in September 2012. The Euro 2008 winner became a cult hero on account of his all-action displays in midfield and a propensity for scoring wondergoals. His first goal for Fulham was a thunderous half volley from 25 yards against Wigan that crashed in off the Hammersmith End crossbar. Karagounis then equalised with an audacious finish from wide out on the right against Blackpool in the FA Cup and hit a fabulous free-kick in a League Cup tie at Leicester City in 2013. He was re-signed in the summer of 2013, making a further nineteen appearances before the Whites were relegated from the top flight.
