Croatian forward Mladen Petric, who scored a stunning free-kick at Craven Cottage during Fulham’s Europa League semi-final against Hamburg, enjoyed a fine start to his career in SW6 after joining on a free transfer in the summer of 2012. He scored twice on his debut against Norwich City, set up another goal for Alex Kacaniklic, and was only denied a hat-trick by the Premier League’s dubious goals panel. Petric scored five times in 24 games during his only season with Fulham, struggling for game time after Martin Jol signed Dimitar Berbatov and Adel Taarabt.
