Czech international Zdenek Grygera had to end his playing career after rupturing his cruciate ligament in November 2011. It brought to an end a bright start to his Fulham career that had seen him challenge for the regular right back spot having arrived on a free transfer from Juventus. Grygera made his debut in the 1-1 draw against FC Twente in the Europa League and made seven first-team appearances before eventually admitting defeat in a dispiriting battle to come back from a horrible injury.
