On-loan Fulham striker Marcello Trotta scored a brace as Brentford moved through to the third round of the FA Cup with a 4-2 second-round replay win over Bradford City.
There was no repeat of last week’s Capital One Cup heroics when the League Two Bantams knocked out Arsenal on penalties as the Bees scored on three occasions in extra-time to ensure their path through to the next phase.
On-loan Fulham striker Trotta levelled for Brentford in the 45th minute from the penalty spot to cancel out Kyel Reid’s 34th minute opener before Alan Connell had Bradford ahead with a penalty of his own in the fourth minute of extra-time.
Trotta then equalised with a left-foot drive in the 102nd minute before Uwe Rosler’s men went further ahead through Clayton Donaldson and Harry Forrester to move through to the next phase of the cup where they will meet Southend United at Roots Hall on January 5.
The goals were Trotta’s first and second for Brentford since moving to Griffin Park from Fulham on November 22. He will remain with the League One club until January 13.
