Some interesting news from France – first reported by L’Equipe before being confirmed by their President – over this weekend as Fulham declare their interest in Lyon’s Bafétimbi Gomis. The forward has scored 34 goals in 107 league games since joining the French giants from St Etienne as well as 2 in 7 for the French national team, and despite erratic form on the pitch he’s been a regular contributor of goals over the past three seasons, with a powerful frame and a penchant for the spectacular. Gomis has stated his happiness at Lyon and a potential fee of £12m could be somewhat of a stumbling block, but he’s known to be interested in moving to England and would certainly represent a real coup for us.
L’Equipe also reports that we are maintaining our interest in Evian striker Yannick Sagbo after being linked to him earlier in the summer. The 24 year old Ivorian has a similar strike rate, 19 goals in 67 goals, and at £3m is a cheaper option, although he has much weaker credentials.
