Jonathan Greening arrived at Craven Cottage in August 2009 from West Bromwich Albion, initially on loan, to add depth to Fulham’s midfield. The former Manchester United midfielder made 34 appearances in his first season with Fulham, including playing seven times as the Whites reached the Europa League final. Greening partnered Chris Baird in central midfield as Roy Hodgson’s side came back from 4-1 down to knock out Juventus and came off the bench in the final itself. He scored his first Fulham goal against Portsmouth in February 2010.
Following Hodgson’s move to Anfield that summer, Greening became more of a bit-part player despite signing a permanent deal in July 2010. He made just ten further league appearances before joining Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2011. Greening is now manager of Scarborough Athletic, whom he guided to promotion from the Northern Premier League via the play-offs in his first full season in charge.
