Mark Hughes is set to get rid of six Fulham stars this summer as he reshapes the Craven Cottage squad – including fans favourite John Pantsil.
The Ghanaian international has fallen out of favour since Hughes succeeded Roy Hodgson and is not likely to be offered a new contract when his current deal expires in the summer. Chris Baird has been preferred at right back of late and Pantsil has scored several own goals when he has been given a chance in the first team this season. Zoltan Gera is set to leave for pastures new in the summer after becoming frustrated with his lack of football, whilst forwards Eddie Johnson and Diomansy Kamara – both currently out on loan – will also leave permanently.
Hughes has signed seven members of his squad up to extended contracts but insisted that any further negotiations will need to wait until the end of the season as he prioritises his own future with the Cottagers. This leaves Bjorn Helge Riise and Kagisho Dikagcoi, both on loan in the Championship, vulnerable as well.
Hughes told the Fulham Chronicle: “Planning goes on every day of the week in terms of preparing for pre-season tours, players I possibly need to see. We will try and look at every situation but any more contract negotiations will be left until the end of the year.”
