A good 2-1 win today with a last minute winner from Dembele which was his second of the game. Complete deserved against a quite frankly disgusting Wolves team, the worst I’ve ever seen play. Ever. There is nothing wrong with commited challenges, I’d take a full blooded 50 50 over a stepover any day, but this Wolves team were full of cynical, dirty fouls (their 17 to our 9, they also 7 yellow cards plus an 8th for a sending off from which free kick we scored the winner, karma eh?) which prompted chants of ‘Disgrace to the Premiership’ from the Hammy End. Add to this an inept refeering display by the usually solid Dowd and there was no suprise that someone eventually got injured, Karl Henry coming in from behind on Zamora, snapping his leg just above the ankle.
Mark Hughes says it is a clean break and it could have been much, much worse, Bobby’s ‘only’ out for 4 months. It’s well disappointing though, not just for Fulham but for Bobby personally. With Defoe injured I thought he could cement an England place, he’s playing the best football of his career and he just signed a new 4 year contract. He should fully recover but until then we’re left with a dilemma with no natural replacement, and as much as I love Dempsey him as a target striker doesn’t inspire me with confidence.
So yeah, nice win today but I really don’t feel like celebrating.
sad news for zamora and fulham…i think dembele would be a nice replacement for him in the mean time…
Got to say I disagree with the media on Henry’s tackle being a fair one. It wasn’t a red card offence but it was clearly a foul. He tackles from behind, it isn’t even from the side and this makes it dangerous, this means that instead of safely winning the ball, Henry has to sandwich Zamora’s right leg after the ball is won, this is precisely why tackling from behind is dangerous and should be outlawed. Regards and get well soon.
By the way, the injury is very bad, I come from a bone background and it could be career threatening even though the surgery has gone well, only time will tell.
Can’t you afford opticians in your part of the country? If you seriously thought that Karl Henrys’ tackle was a foul, then I’m surprised you can make your way to Craven Cottage without the aid of a white stick and guide dog. I am disappointed for Zamora but it was an unfortunate accident. I hope that he recovers quickly. As for Wolves’ tactics, I was disappointed that we committed so many ‘soft’ fouls giving away so many unnecessary free kicks in dangerous positions but to call us dirty after seeing Pantsil stay on the pitch for the most ‘cynical’ foul of the game and Hangleands’ ‘challenge’ on Fletcher somewhat detracts from your argument
actually i thought henry’s tackle was a good one and it was just a very very unlucky injury, i don’t think i said it was a foul either. one of the few good tackles wolves put in all game. pantsil should have gone but doyle was offside and hangeland won the ball. looking at your 7 yellow cards they were for taking out fulham players as we tried to counter, blocking them off in threatening positions, mouthing off to the ref and shirt pulling. all cynical dirty fouls with no interest in ‘fair play’. they’re just a small snapshot of the wolves play on saturday. i don’t mind aggressiveness and it’s something i’d like to see fulham do more actually but there’s a difference between being ‘competitive’ and being dirty, and wolves on saturday were dirty

I think you’ll change your mind if you think Henry’s tackle wasn’t dangerous (unless you’re a Wolves fan in denial, of course).
FIFA Law 12 is also quite explicit about what constitutes dangerous foul play and warrants a red card and this tackle certainly fits the bill.
