The news have been waiting for has now broken.
Roy Hodgson has been announced as the new Liverpool manager, signing a three-year deal at Anfield. Liverpool will be holding a press conference with Hodgson later on. Fulham will reportedly receive £2.5m in comepnsation.
There’s now a massive void at Fulham and let’s hope it is filled by someone who can continue to move the club forward.
Goodbye Roy – and all the best.
I really hope we don’t sign Sven, stay away sven… you’re not welcome here.
I want Mark Hughes! Danny Murphy is also aparently in the frame.
It’s not Danny Murphy’s time yet. Because of the way he reads the game and leads his team mates, many DO believe that Danny should be in the reckoning. In my, fairly ignorant opinion, Danny needs to retire as a player, first, and learn the craft of leading men from OFF the pitch and at the training ground. I hate to say it, but he needs to return to Liverpool with Roy, and undergo THAT baptism of fire as an assistant coach, and learn from the very best in a critically tough situation.
THEN, in a few years, Fulham can try to entice him into coaching at the club once he’s paid some dues, and gained hard-won experience in the job.
With Mark Hughes’ accomplishments at Blackburn, I am warming to the prospect of him at Fulham. He was an unknown and poorly regarded commodity at City, with the world players they were trying to adapt. Let’s face it, the Robinhos of the world don’t want to play for Mark Hughes…..he’s not a Mancini, Mourinho, Ferguson, Lippi, etc. That’s not a knock, either, City stabbed him in the back, no doubt, but that’s most likely why.
I’ll take him, and let him establish, or maintain the level we’ve now achieved, as long as we win, let the rest of “them” pound sand.
