We all know Mohamed Al-Fayed’s reputation for being a hard-nosed and shrewd businessman. But has he ever made a better decision than appointing Roy Hodgson as Fulham manager? An idle thought prompted by my perusing of some old articles and coming across this one. Al-Fayed is always a confident man – but even he can’t have predicted just how high we would climb under Roy? He must really love his football club.
The strange thing about that was the same man (McNally) recommended appointing Sanchez and Hodgson – two completely different managers in terms of calibre and quality. Just so glad we’ve got Roy. He might even have persauded MAF to put his hand in his pocket again come the summer.
