My local paper seems to think that ‘Fulham are sweating on the fitness of Paul Konchesky’ ahead of Saturday, although I’m not so sure about that.
It would be a big risk to throw a left back who hasn’t played for a month or so into a high pressure FA Cup quarter-final against Tottenham. The consensus from Tuesday night’s reserve game was that Konchesky was feeling his way back to fitness rather than closing in on a first-team return. Besides, Nicky Shorey’s been doing well at left back of late and would be my choice for the Spurs game. Am I wrong?
I agree. Absolutely no reason to feel rushed to get him back.
Be nice to give him 20 minutes if he’s going to manage to be fit for Thursday
Really Andy? I wouldn’t risk such a change in a big game. He could also pick up a knock in that 20 mins ruling him out of Juve away.
I think it would be good to give him 20 minutes when we are three nil up.
That is confidence Terry. I hope you’re right, but I’d keep Shorey in for this one.
Well if he can’t manage 20 minutes against Tottenham (without Lennon) he won’t be ready for 90 against Juve.
Could always give him a half for the reserves against Birmingham next week?
If Fulham are leading (a fairly big if), then we might see him come on at LM, and see whether we can link up effectively with Nicky Shorey.
