Worrying news from the Daily Mail. Andy Johnson is waiting for a specialist’s verdict on his injured knee which – if goes the wrong way – could see the striker ruled out of the rest of Fulham’s season.
Roy Hodgson hints at disappointment at approving Diomansy Kamara’s loan to Celtic before learning of the potential extent of Johnson’s injury.
If they find the problem is major, Andy would need an operation that would keep him out for the rest of the season. If we’re lucky it’s something wrong with the cartilage or something like that, then he might be back earlier.
One of the reasons we let Diomansy go was because we didn’t think the problem with Andy was anywhere near as grave. If you said to me, “Would I like him (Kamara) back here?” then I would, but it’s too late.
Always thought it was stupid letting him go to start with. The villa game clearly showed Nevlands lack of pace. Surely we can just recall him?
Apparently not, Ed.
That’s bad news. Doubt we can recall Kamara – those type of loan deals are often tied down especially if Celtic have an option to buy. Same as us with Shorey. We wouldn’t want to bring a player in thinking we’ve covered a gap only to have him recalled two weeks later.
Its a shame and you can only say, a massive error on Roys part. Surely there is no other option than to let a youngster or two get a some first team experience. This is also Elm’s time to really impress and get his first goal. Was he offside on saturday when he put the ball in the net?
Don’t think it’s an error by Roy himself. He relies on medical reports which didn’t initially indicate the seriousness of AJ’s injury and Kamara was desperate to move to Celtic – he arranged the talks himself.
Okaka will come in tonight I fancy, either as a starter or on the bench. And, from what I’ve seen, Elm was – just – offside.
Fair enough, hopefully Okaka will show us some magic! I can’t bear to watch the highlights when we lose, so haven’t seen the ‘goal’.
I still believe someone has dropped the ball somewhere with the Kamara situation, either with allowing him to move, or not having adequate backup.
Anyway, lets hope for a solid performance tonight and a nice victory.
I don’t understand why we let Kamara go. Especially with FA Cup & Europa League competitions, and our struggling league form. Obviously, scoring goals is our problem. Our finances must be extremely tight.
