The last time Fulham played Roma we were talking up the chances of a contest between the Riise brothers. Now, come January, they could be on the same side.
The Express reckons that Roy Hodgson is keen on adding some depth to his squad by bringing John Arne Riise back to English football. The former Liverpool full-back is said to be unhappy at Roma, who may wish to cash in on the Norwegian defender to reduce some of burden placed on them by their massive debt. The elder Riise might have to work to appease the Fulham fans, who regularly taunt him when he comes back to the Cottage after pulling out of a deal to join Fulham in 2001 to move to Anfield, apparently on the advice of his mother.
Younger brother Bjorn-Helge has enjoyed a rather low-key start to his Fulham career, mostly restricted to substitute appearances. He has made a few starts in the Europa League and was impressive against his brother in the 1-1 draw with Roma at the Cottage. He may have a decent chance of resuming the family affair with Damien Duff definitely out of tomorrow night’s tie at the Stadio Olimpico.
