The Daily Mail is reporting that Fulham have seen off the challenge of several English sides to sign Austrian striker Marc Janko on loan.
Apparently, Manchester City and Blackburn were also tracking the Red Bull Salzburg striker but Roy Hodgson managed to beat them and Celtic to Janko’s signature. The 6ft 5in striker has been allowed to leave Salzburg after they were knocked out of the Champions’ League at the final qualifying stage on Tuesday night.
Taking into account his height, Janko would most likely be a possible replacement for Bobby Zamora but the stats suggest that he is a little move prolific in front of goal, with the usual caveat that he’s been banging them in the Austrian league. He scored 39 goals in 34 games last season, including five hat-tricks and one four-goal burst when he came off the bench against SCR Altach that secured a remarkable 4-3 victory.
Sounds promising.
interesting! I hope we get this one 🙂
The people who have watched him more regularly than me reckon he’ll be useful.
On the bits I have watched of him he looks very mobile. He can play wide and may actually be a better bet than Crouch for us. Interesting one.
I assume he’s Cup tied?
Ineligible to play for us in Europe until January.
