The England U21s face a tricky test against Spain at the European Under 21 Championships tonight. Can they improve on a nervous showing in their first game against Finland? Will Nedum Onuoha be back to shore up a shaky defence? With Michael Mancienne now suspended, I’m sure Stuart Pearce will be hoping so.
There’s Fulham interest in the Confederations Cup this afternoon. Clint Dempsey should play in what is really a make-or-break match for the USA against Brazil this afternoon. Bob Bradley’s team badly need a win to stay in with a chance of progression after that defeat to Italy. It’s a 3pm kick-off and you can follow it on the BBC website.
While you are there, check out the brave protests of Iran’s footballers following that dodgy election result.
We’ll be very lucky to get a point. I just want a good performance. Winning/losing doesn’t matter to me.
and 20 minutes in, 2-0 down. That didn’t take long. This is the opposite of the “good performance” I was hoping for. Oh well…Gold Cup starts July 4th (pretty sad that I’m actually looking forward to that).
i was watching that match but then the strem cut off! post the result back here please!!!!
Very shaky start and i still don’t know what beasley was doing lol
Very dodgy performance so far.
Lydia, try the BBC website if you are in the UK:

Otherwise, there’s goal2net.com and justin.tv
And, no, I’ve no idea what Beasley was doing. It’s also the first team I’ve seen a player interviewed just after he’s scored a goal.
haha me too, i’ve never seen that. I wonder what he said! i’ve trid justin but it doesn’t matter because it’s over now lol
3-0 loss. Soft effort from the U.S.
Anyone else noticing a HUGE difference in the USA Clint and the Fulham Clint?
I wrote something yesterday, and lots of other blogs/writers have noticed it too.
He looks absolutely knackered. That’s probably the long and short of it. Coming off a long and hard season, it’s very difficult to produce your best form – let alone against two of the best sides in the world.
But I Think there’s more too it than that. He’s looked bothered by something since the Costa Rica match.
Maybe he looks at Roy, and then looks at Bradley and says “no contest”.
Which speaks so highly of Fulham. Yay!
Yeah, I’m not so sure it’s that, either, Timmy.
If it is, it reflects badly on Bradley. It might well be that Dempsey has a clearly defined role in the Fulham side and has to work exceptionally hard defensively in our narrow 4-4-2 system. In the two games I’ve watched from the Confederations Cup, he has almost ambled around the pitch with little direction or intensity.
