A different day and a different destination for Kevin Doyles. Yesterday it was Sunderland, but the rumours today suggest that the Irish striker is off to Wolves and the newly-promoted Premier League side will announce his arrival at a Tuesday morning press conference.
Teamtalk are reporting that Wolves have agreed a fee in the region of £6m with Reading for Doyle and that Mick McCarthy’s side have fought off interest from a whole host of top-flight clubs, including ourselves. The one thing that came out of the Marc-Antoine Fortune saga was that we learned that Roy had a long list of transfer targets. Had we paid such an inflated price for Doyle, I’d have been surprised as he looked to me like someone who suffered from second season syndrome in the Premier League having flourihed in Reading’s fine first term.
