In the corresponding fixture last year, Brede Hangeland made his Fulham debut. Roy Hodgson picked up his first point as Fulham manager at the Rebook but he went one better this time around.

It was in large part due to another dominant performance from Hangeland, who faced a testing afternoon up against Kevin Davies, Bolton’s focal point and a physical presence up front. Davies might have got on the scoresheet in first half stoppage-time but Hangeland was immense, winning his fair share of balls in the air, making a couple of brilliant blocks (one of which prevented Gary Cahill from opening the scoring) and using the ball intelligently.

I remember being really excited as a younger fan when we splashed the cash on Alain Goma from Newcastle. The French defender was billed as rocky and sadly his injury troubles meant we never got as much out of him as we might have done. I reckon Hangeland’s our new rock.
