Fulham boss Lawrie Sanchez believes his team must be more ruthless after watching his players again throw away a lead.
His team dominated a nervous Sunderland in the first-half and had a whole host of chances before they deservedly took the lead from a Simon Davies free-kick in the 32nd minute.
But Sunderland came back in the second-half and eventually got their equaliser in the 86th minute when Kenwyne Jones headed home.
The Black Cats had earlier been reduced to ten men when Greg Halford was sent-off in the 67th minute for a second bookable offence, but Fulham failed to capitalise.
Reflecting on the game, Sanchez said: “We played excellent today – dominated the game from the first minute all the way through to about the 85th minute.
“Ultimately we didn’t defend one of the crosses that Sunderland were throwing in all afternoon.
“The big lad got on the end and made it one-all and we are bitterly disappointed to come to Sunderland and go home with one point,” he said, adding his team had also conceded a late equaliser at Wigan.
He added: “It is disappointing but at the same time they do say don’t lose to your rivals, especially away from home. Draw with them away from home, beat them at home.
“We have outplayed all our rivals when we’ve gone away, we just haven’t brought as many points home from them as we should have done.”
Sanchez said his team must score a second goal before other teams get their equaliser.
“We’ve done that once this season and got the three points,” he said.
“As soon as we can do that we will get more points.
“But as I say, our general play was good, you wouldn’t believe that they were the home team here. We dominated, I thought, from the first minute all the way until the 85th.”
