Tottenham defender Michael Dawson has warned Fulham that Steed Malbranque will be determined to rise to the occasion to prove a point to his former club.
The French midfielder returns to Craven Cottage for the first time since his £5million summer move to Spurs and will be guaranteed a hostile reception from the Fulham fans.
But Dawson insists Malbranque will be braced for the abuse and believes he has the quality to help Tottenham win their London derby.
Dawson said: “When he goes there, it might give him a lift if they give him some stick. I’m sure he’ll handle it, not a problem. I’m sure his football will do the talking.
“Steed playing against Fulham is a big day for him, I’m sure he will be very excited to prove a point.
“But he’ll go out there and probably do no different to what he does week in and week out because he always gives 100 per cent.
“It must have been hard for him when he was injured. But since he’s come in, he’s been fantastic and he’s got another great goal against Cardiff in the FA Cup. “He’s a quiet guy but when you get on to the pitch, you see a different side to him.”
