Fulham manager Chris Coleman is banking on goalkeeper Jan Lastuvka to rise to the challenge in the coming weeks.
Lastuvka, on a season-long loan deal from Shakhtar Donetsk, looks set for a run of matches as Antti Niemi recovers from a cartilage operation.
The Czech Republic goalkeeper, 24, had a rough ride on his Barclays Premiership debut at Ewood Park, conceding a couple of early goals as Blackburn secured a 2-0 victory.
Coleman, however, has little doubt about Lastuvka’s quality.
He said: “Jan is a capable goalkeeper – he has experience of playing in the Champions League.
“He will be okay and we cannot be too harsh on him after his first game. It has been difficult for him. His family are still not here and he has been going backwards and forwards. Overall I was pleased with his performance against Blackburn.”
