Facundo Sava arrived at Fulham in the summer of 2002 for £2m from Club de Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata as a signing recommended by the club’s new director of football Franco Baresi. The Argentinian was largely used as a back up forward to Louis Saha and then Brian McBride during his time in English football, but generated headlines with his habit of celebrating goals by producing a mask from his sock and wearing it after scoring. Sava did score memorable goals, including his first in England that clinched a draw from 2-0 down in injury time at Middlesbrough, and grabbed a brace against Liverpool. The striker returned to Argentina and is now manager of Patronato in his homeland.
