Former Fulham full-back Alex Lawless has joined League Two Torquay United after a successful trial on the south coast.

Welsh youth international Lawless, who is also comfortable operating in midfield, left Craven Cottage after two years with the Whites following his release in May.

Former Fulham legend Leroy Rosenior, now in charge at Plainmoor, urged the United fans to be patient with his Lawless and his two other summer signings Alex Connell and Liam Coleman. Speaking to the Herald Express, Rosenior said:

“They were desperate to come down here and it’s a chance for them to move on with their careers in a different environment. It’s important that the supporters are patient with these youngsters and give them time to learn and develop. They gave Bayo Akinfenwa time and it paid off. These lads need it as well.”
