Chris Coleman is planning a surprise move for out-of-favour Chelsea goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini as he looks to secure an experienced replacement for Fulham veteran Edwin van der Sar.
The Dutch international’s future at Craven Cottage remains up in the air with interest from the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal and discussions over a new contract seeming to have stalled. Fulham are close to completing a deal to bring in teenage Portuguese custodian Ricardo Batista from Vitoria Setubal, but Coleman has identified the Italian currently well down Chelsea’s pecking order as a potential cut-price signing.
London24 reports that Cudicini would be open to remaining in west London, where he and his family are settled, and attracted by the prospect of regular first-team football.
