The popular Paul Peschisolido became Fulham’s first million pound signing when he moved from West Bromwich Albion in October 1997. He scored on his debut against Northampton Town the following day and finished a fantastic first season at Craven Cottage with thirteen goals in 34 games, despite being sent off in the play-off semi-final defeat at Grimsby. The Canadian international struggled to replicate his electric start having been hit with injuries the following year, but still scored a brilliant equaliser for Kevin Keegan’s side in the League Cup at Liverpool and helped the Whites win the Second Division title in 1999. He continued to score regularly in Division One but was deemed surplus to requirements by Jean Tigana when the Frenchman took charge in the summer of 2000.
