Fulham defender Zat Knight has promised to sort out Michael Owen after stopping Ruud van Nistelrooy at Old Trafford last week.
Knight believes that many of the Premiership’s top stars are overrated and refuses to be overawed by the big names he faces.
The 6ft 6in centre-back played a vital part in his side’s fantastic 3-1 win at Manchester United last weekend as he kept Dutch striker van Nistelrooy out of the game.
Now Knight is hoping that Owen has recovered from injury and is looking forward to the challenge of stopping Liverpool and England’s top striker at Loftus Road tomorrow.
Knight said: “Michael Owen is a lot quicker than Ruud and a bit sharper around the box. With van Nistelrooy it’s an overall challenge whereas Owen is more down the sides so there’s a lot of difference.
“I think a lot of players are over-rated but that’s just my view.
“Owen’s good. I played against him last year but I won’t treat him any different to any other team’s attackers.
“I just concentrate on my own game and giving 110 per cent rather than on an individual.”
England boss Sven Goran Eriksson recently mentioned Fulham’s 23-year-old defender as a possible future replacement for Rio Ferdinand.
Knight added: “It’s everyone’s ambition to play for their country. Playing against the likes of Owen definitely helps me because he is one of the best strikers in the Premiership.
“I just relish the chance to face good players week in, week out.”
