Veteran goalkeeper Dave Beasant has joined Fulham on a free transfer.
The 43 year-old has immediately become part of Chris Coleman’s coaching staff – acting as the new first-team goalkeeping coach – but has been registered as a player with the Premier League in case of any injury to Dutch international Edwin van der Sar.
The former Wimbledon goalkeeper spent last season at Brighton, making sixteen appearances for the Seagulls and becoming the oldest goalkeeper to play a first-team fixture in the history of the English Football League, and has begun his coaching courses in preparation for his retirement.
As we revealed last month, Beasant was part of Fulham’s pre-season tour in Austria and will provide experienced cover for van der Sar whilst the Whites look for another goalkeeper.
