John Carew has blasted Jean Tigana and warned ‘any footballer in the world not to sign for Fulham.

The Norwegian striker has successfully reignited his career at Valencia after his dream Premier League move fell through ten months ago and starred as the Spanish side secured a second Champions’ League win over Liverpool earlier this week.

Carew is still bitter on how Tigana and Fulham pulled the plug on a proposed £8m deal – claiming he had a serious knee problem. He told The People that the Whites were trying to save money on the transfer:

“I’m in good shape now, playing well and very happy for that. I have never been healthier or fitter and it’s strange that I’m performing so well for a player who is supposed to have a problem with his knees. After the deal with Fulham fell through I was obviously in turmoil. But five doctors – including the one who saved Ronaldo’s career – examined me and gave me the all-clear.

In my first year at Valencia I played 60 matches and got to the Champions Cup Final. The year after maybe my head was in other places I was maybe a little tired and I had a reaction, but now I’m back to my best. Since the Fulham thing, I have played over 30 games and looking back I know I had a lucky escape by not joining Tigana.

I’m very happy that I didn’t go there now because what kind of people would start rumours about me? If they did it to me they could do it to other players and that is not the kind of club I want to play for. What happened to me was a very bad scene and when someone spreads those kind of false rumours it can damage your career.”
