Fulham Ladies maintained their flawless start to the new season by thrashing Newport 14-0 in a fantastic performance in south Wales this afternoon.
Newport had also won both of their first two league games but were blown away by a dominant display from Gaute Haugenes’ side.
Midfielder Katie Chapman scored a hat-trick within the first fifteen minutes to all but wrap up the three points but the Whites were far from finished. Chapman, Margunn Haugenes and Marianne Pettersen all finished with four goals to their name, with the excellent Rachel Yankey also getting on the scoresheet. Bright displays from second half substitutes Deena Rahman, Sanchia Duncan and Ronnie Gibbons ensured the visitors kept up the intensity despite the contest long being over.
Fulham boss Haugenes said afterwards:
“Apart from a very good passing game, the one thing that pleased me most was that we were well organised at set pieces. Six of the goals came from moves we had practiced in training.”
