John Collins was pleased that Fulham fought back to share the spoils on derby day after admitting Chelsea had outplayed the Whites in the first half at Craven Cottage.

Speaking to Sky Sports after Barry Hayles’ second-half equaliser had earned Jean Tigana’s side a point, the Scottish international said:

“We sat too deep and they caused us a lot of problems but, in the second-half, we were the better team and deserved the equaliser. Maybe we gave them a little bit too much respect early on. When they went down to 10 men, the momentum was with us and we were going for a winner. So when you come off at 1-1, you are disappointed but after our first-half performance, it might have been a fair result.”

Collins insisted Fulham would not get too down about collecting only seven points from their first seven matches back in the top flight.

“That’s disappointing but we’re not going to get too worried. It’s not as if teams have rolled us over and we’ve played very poorly, yet we do need to start winning our home games.”
