Caelan Avenall joined Fulham at the age of eight. He initially progressed through the academy ranks as an attacker but, on account of his height and physicality, was converted into a central defender in his early teens. He featured in the under 18 squad as early as 2020 and, despite suffering a succession of serious injuries, was handed a two-year scholarship with the Whites in September 2021. He finally made his full under-18 debut as Ali Melloul’s side beat Reading in the opening league game of this campaign.
