Full back Steve Finnan has put pen to paper on a new five-year contract with Fulham ahead of their return to the top flight.

The Republic of Ireland international, who has won two promotions with the Whites since signing from Notts County in 1998, signed his new deal on Monday morning before Jean Tigana’s squad left for their latest pre-season training camp in Luxembourg.

Finnan told Fulham’s official website:

Finnan expressed his happiness with the deal:

“I’m delighted to have signed up for five years. Fulham is a club that’s going places and I want to be part of that. We’ve got some excellent players and a top class management team. Obviously it’s nice that the management feel I deserve a five-year deal, personally it’s a great confidence booster.”

Finnan follows in the footsteps of Sean Davis, Luis Boa Morte and Louis Saha in committing their futures to the club as Fulham prepare for their Premiership debut at Old Trafford next month.
