Fulham have completed the permanent signing of Portuguese winger Luis Boa Morte from Southampton for £1.7m.

Boa Morte, who scored 21 goals in 46 games during a loan spell at Craven Cottage that saw Jean Tigana’s side win the Division One title, has signed a four-year contract with the Whites. The 23 year-old, who won the double with Arsenal in his first season in English football, was recommended to Tigana by Arsene Wenger and turned down Southampton’s overtures to stay in London.

Boa Morte told Fulham’s official website:

“I am really happy to have signed with Fulham for the next four years and that we will be playing in the Premiership. “I am really happy to have signed with Fulham for the next four years and that we will be playing in the Premiership.”

Fulham’s managing director, Michael Fiddy, added:

“We are delighted to have agreed with Luis for the next four years. As a formidable part of the strikeforce, the player showed great skill and commitment on the pitch last season and we look forward to his continued dedication in the Premiership.”

Boa Morte follows in the footsteps of full back Rufus Brevett and homegrown midfielder Sean Davis in committing their future to the Cottagers.
