Former Fulham captain Simon Morgan has signed for Second Division Brighton and Hove Albion a free transfer.

The Cottagers’ cult hero, who has made 420 appearances in eleven years with the Whites, will formally move to Albion on 1 July. Morgan, now 34, opted to be re-united with his former Fulham team-mate and manager Micky Adams, who has recently extended his contract with Albion, despite interest from the Seagulls’ Second Division rivals Queens Park Rangers and Notts County.

The utility man, who can play in central defence or in the middle of midfield, was a key part of Kevin Keegan’s Fulham side that romped to the Second Division title in 1999 and famously scored in the FA Cup third round win at Premiership leaders Aston Villa. Morgan missed most of last season’s Division One promotion campaign through injury.
