Former Fulham full back Gus Uhlenbeek has signed for Sheffield United on a free transfer.

The Dutch defender was considered surplus to requirements by new manager Jean Tigana, who took over at Craven Cottage as a permanent successor to the sacked Paul Bracewell this summer. The former Ipswich right back made 50 appearances for the Whites, scoring a single goal, and helped Fulham win the Second Division title under Kevin Keegan.

He lost his place in the Fulham starting line-up to Steve Finnan and will now look to rebuild his career at Bramall Lane.
