Barry Hayles grabbed the only goal of the game as Fulham recorded an impressive victory over Rennes at Route de Lorient in Brittany this evening.
The centre forward tucked home an excellent cross from Steve Finnan as Jean Tigana’s Whites began their pre-season tour of France in fine fettle. Andy Melville and Chris Coleman were outstanding at the back as the Cottagers withstood a late barrage of pressure to keep an encouraging clean sheet against Ligue 1 opposition.
The Whites will be put through their paces for a further week of fitness training under the watchful eye of former French national federation coach Roger Propos before their next match – a meeting with a French select XI at Clairefontaine.
