Paul Bracewell believes Fulham’s defeat at home to Barnsley yesterday ‘is just a minor setback’ – but the Craven Cottage boss has suggested he will dip into the transfer market to boost their hopes of making the top flight.

The Fulham manager says he won’t be panicking after watching the Tykes condemn his side to their second defeat in three matches. He told the press after his side surrendered a first half lead given to them by German striker Karl-Heinz Riedle:

“This is just a minor setback and we shall recover from it. Three defeats in 21 games isn’t all that bad, is it? We just have to put these results behind us and get back to winning ways against Blackburn Rovers next Saturday. We know what the problem was. It doesn’t need a genius to point out that we didn’t take our chances. We had three or four great opportunities before they scored. We were punished for not doing that and all credit must go to Barnsley.”

Bracewell is hoping he can keep hold of on-loan striker Danny Cadamarteri despite reports on Merseyside that Everton have demanded his return to Goodison Park as soon as the forward’s one-month stint in SW6 is up. If that happens, the former Fulham boss may have to splash more of Mohamed Al-Fayed’s cash. Bracewell added:

“I can basically do what I want in the transfer market. There is money to spend”.
