Kit Symons has signed for Fulham on a free transfer – and will face his former club Manchester City in the second week of the Second Division season.
The Welsh centre back, who was released by City last month only weeks after they slipped into the third tier, has signed a three-year contract at Craven Cottage having been lured to London by Fulham manager Kevin Keegan.
Symons told the Manchester Evening News this afternoon: “It is no secret that I never wanted to leave Maine Road, but Fulham are obviously a club which is going places. It will be strange turning out against City next season, but I will just have to forget any sentimental feelings. My big hope now is that I play against City again in the First Division in twelve months time.”
Symons made 139 appearances for City, scoring four goals, in three seasons at Maine Road having moved from Portsmouth in a deal worth £1.5m. He will play alongside his Welsh international team-mate Chris Coleman at Craven Cottage.
