Third Division strugglers Brighton and Hove Albion produced a battling display to keep league leaders Fulham at bay in front of a bumper crowd at the Goldstone Ground this afternoon.
Albion prevented Micky Adams’ side from scoring from the first time in nineteen matches this season but the Cottagers rued some lacklustre finishing as they had to settle for a point from this stalemate on the south coast. Mike Conroy saw two fierce first half shots saved whilst Richard Carpenter and second half substitute Glenn Cockerill went close from distance as the visitors dominated but couldn’t force a winner.
At the other end, Mark Walton made a pair of smart saves to keep Fulham’s clean sheet intact whilst the referee waved away late claims for a penalty against Terry Angus.
FULHAM: Walton, Watson, Herrera, Cusack, Angus (Thomas 65), Blake, Scott (Cockerill 75), Carpenter, Conroy, Morgan, Freeman. Subs (not used): Cullip.
