Experienced midfielder Phil Barber, who played for Crystal Palace in the 1990 FA Cup final, joined Fulham on loan from Bristol City in January 1996 and made thirteen appearances mostly once Micky Adams had replaced Ian Branfoot, who signed the former Palace and Millwall man, in the Fulham dugout. Barber’s tenacity was key in helping the Whites escape relegation.
