Kevin Moore grabbed an equaliser as Fulham continued their fine run of recent form by taking a point home from a testing trip to Chesterfield this afternoon.
Ian Branfoot hailed his side’s fighting spirit after they overcame the disappointment of conceding a sloppy goal to claim a share of the spoils. There might be some extra defensive drills taking place in training over the coming days, however, as Darren Roberts sprung a dodgy offside trap to lift an impressively improvised finish over the onrushing Jim Stannard to give the home side the lead.
Fulham kept up their five-match unbeaten run thanks to Moore’s late intervention. The visitors had Chesterfield goalkeeper Chris Marples to thank for giving them a sight of goal. The former Derbyshire wicket-keeper was disconsolate with his glovework after he failed to hold a Terry Angus header after the centre half had stretched to head Duncan Jupp’s free-kick towards the goal. The loose ball bounced out of the goalkeeper’s grasp and Moore slid in to bundle home a leveller that delighted the travelling supporters behind the goal.
