Fulham have signed Terry Angus on a free transfer after the centre back was released by Northampton Town at the end of last season.

The dominant defender, who made 138 appearances in three years at the Cobblers, moved to Craven Cottage after he was recommended to Fulham manager Don Mackay by the club’s youth-team coach Theo Foley, who managed Northampton when Angus signed his first professional contract. The 27 year-old caught the eye when Northampton beat Fulham in the third round of the FA Cup last season and had tracked by assistant manager Ray Lewington ever since.

Mackay said: “We are very pleased to have got Terry Angus. With Gavin Nebbeling and Mark Newson leaving us, we needed cover in that area. Angus is naturally left-sided so he will give us a few options.”
