Cypriot midfielder Ara Bedrossian joined Fulham from APOEL Nicosia initially on loan after he had failed to make an appearance at Queens Park Rangers. He quickly became a cult hero with the Craven Cottage faithful, inspiring a fanzine called ‘Where’s Ara?,’ which took its title from the popular midfielder’s unexplained absence from the first team-squad. Bedrossian had trials with Birmingham City and Middlesbrough but returned to Fulham at Ray Lewington’s urging, making 49 appearances and – after a succession of shots hitting the woodwork – scored his only goal for the club against Blackpool.
