Tony Philliskirk’s thirteenth goal of the season was enough to earn Bolton Wanderers a ninth straight away win at Fulham this afternoon.

Philliskirk finished off the finest move of the match twenty minutes into the second half with a tap-in after Jim Stannard had palmed out Phil Brown’s shot. Wanderers worked the ball across the width of the Craven Cottage pitch with beautiful passes from full backs Scott Green and Stuart Storer to give Phil Neal’s side the lead they merited after dominating the first half.

Fulham’s only real chances came at the start and end of a contest Bolton always looked in control of. Mark Newson almost beat David Felgate for 25 yards in the very first minute after Mark Winstanley had only half cleared a Gary Brazil cross, before the returning Mark Seagraves almost gifted Alan Dicks’ side an equaliser in the last minute of normal time. The defender’s dreadful header put Justin Skinner in the clear but the midfielder somehow stabbed woefully wide from six yards out.
