A fine header from midfielder John Marshall rescued a point for Fulham against Rotherham United at Craven Cottage this afternoon.

The Millers went in front early in the second half when centre back Andy Barnsley buried a brilliant volley after Glen Thomas had headed a free-kick half clear. Bobby Williamson and Pat Heard both missed good chances to extend the away side’s advantage and Fulham struggled for a cutting edge in the final third.

Fulham manager Ray Lewington sent on Irishman Leo Donnellan for the ineffectual John Watson and the home side garnered some more control of proceedings in the middle of the park. They levelled halfway through the second goal when veteran winger Clive Walker rolled back the years by surging down the left flank and producing an inch-perfect cross that Marshall headed past Kelham O’Hanlon and into the roof of the Hammersmith End net.
