Trevor Morgan went from hero to zero as Bolton Wanderers grabbed an unlikely point at Craven Cottage despite Fulham dominating this match.
Morgan headed home a cross from Jeff Chandler after excellent play from full back Dean Crombie to give Wanderers a foothold in a game they should have already been out of, but the striker turned villain just before full time when he squandered a great chance to give Wanderers’ the lead. Bolton’s second half showing was much more adventurous than a first period when they barely got out of their own half but they had to throw caution to the wind after Justin Skinner had shown Fulham’s forwards how to finish.
The home side were on the front foot from the outset as they searched for the victory that would breath new life in their play-off hopes. David Felgate denied Michael Cole, Gordon Davies and Clive Walker in the first half before Skinner provided the breakthrough three minutes after half time. The midfielder headed his seventh goal of the season home from a Walker corner, promising some poor marking from the visiting defence. It would be Bolton who would have the last laugh.
