Fulham required a second-half equaliser from summer signing Andy Sayer to salvage a point against Wigan Athletic at Craven Cottage this afternoon.
The lively Sayer, who signed from Wimbledon, scored his fifth goal in eight games with an opportunistic strike on the hour mark after latching onto a through ball from Fulham midfielder Justin Skinner that caught out an otherwise well-drilled Wigan defence. The Latics had gone in front on 28 minutes when defender John Butler tapped past Jim Stannard from close range after a Wigan corner had caused chaos in the Fulham defence.
