Teddy Maybank initially joined Fulham on loan from Chelsea in November 1976, scoring eight goals in fifteen appearances, and signed permanently for the Whites the following March. He signed for Brighton for £300,000 six months later – helping Fulham pay for the Eric Miller Stand – before returning to Craven Cottage after falling out with Alan Mullery at Brighton. He scored nineteen goals in 50 games in total for Fulham, moving to PSV Eindhoven for £230,000 following Fulham’s relegation in 1980 but was forced to retire aged just 24 due to a persistent knee injury.
