Consistent midfielder Barry Lloyd joined Fulham as a makeweight in the deal that took John Dempsey to Stamford Bridge in 1969 and he was made captain by Bill Dodgin. He led the Whites to promotion from Division Three in 1971, scoring in the win at Bradford City that confirmed the club were going up. Lloyd, ever-present in that campaign, missed just one game between December 1969 and December 1972.
Lloyd lost his place midway through the 1974-75 – and was named as a substitute for the FA Cup final at Wembley – but Bobby Campbell sold him to Hereford United after 280 appearances for the Whites.
