Prolific goalscorer Maurice Cook joined Fulham from Watford for just £12,000 in January 1958. He was cup-tied for that season’s famous FA Cup run but was a key part of the side that reached the semi-finals four years later. Cook hit seventeen goals as the Whites went up in 1958/59 and scored the first goal of the new League Cup in September 1960. He topped Fulham’s goalscoring charts with fifteen goals in 1961/62 and 1962/63 but began to struggle for game time and was sold by Vic Buckingham to Reading in May 1965 after scoring 97 times in 248 games over seven years at Craven Cottage. Cook sadly died in December 2006.
